Let me introduce "Comfort and Joy". Karen and Julie are cousins...6 weeks apart. When they say your best childhood friends are your cousins, they are absolutely right! Karen is "Comfort". She is steady, stable and always compassionate. Karen is logical, BRILLIANT and loyal. When you are with her, she touches your soul with her peaceful nature. Julie is "Joy". She is impulsive, silly, and always makes you laugh. Julie finds the adventure in everyday activities. Julie will convince you to stomp in the puddles and dance in the rain.
We carry a wide variety of ready-made quilts in all sizes. We would BE HONORED to take your special requests to make YOUR custom quilt perfect for YOU. Our longarm services have a remarkably short turn around time. We look forward to making your quilt dreams a reality!

Just enough to keep your quilt soft and cozy
Perfect for nearly every quilt
Most often the quilter's choice for imperfect quilt tops,
or tops that need to be tamed.
Custom quilting can be either hand-guided quilting, computer-guided quilting, or a combination of the two.
This includes computer programmed designs in each block, special border designs, etc.
When you want some of your quilt done with a computer-programmed design, but wish to have your blocks, embroidery, or applique done with custom, hand-guided quilting to enhance your spectacular creation.
This option is available for those who desire a completely custom, one-of-a-kind quilt, where the stitches are designed to move your quilt from beautiful to a family heirloom.
If you enjoy creating "flimsies", but dread shopping for the rest...
We ALWAYS have a stock of Hobbs 80/20
We GENERALLY have a stock of Hobbs black 80/20
If you want a high loft poly, bamboo, 100% cotton we will be glad to order that for you (additional charges will apply)
We regularly have a good supply of flannel fabrics in stock
We will gladly use a wide-back flannel or wide back cotton, in a color that suits your "flimsy".
We will gladly cut, press, and attach your binding for you out of fabric that you provide (or leftover fabric from your backing.) .05 to cut and press your binding. .10 to stitch your binding to your quilt (front side or back side...your choice). .20 to machine stitch your binding font and back. My most sincere apologies, I DO NOT hand stitch binding!

Because we quilt from our homes, we don't keep normal "office hours". One or both of us can often be found quilting in the middle of the night, as we both have day jobs.
We offer OPTIONS for taking delivery of your quilt!
*If you are local to Traverse City Michigan, you can make an appointment to drop your quilt off to Julie.
*If you are local to Bay City Michigan, you can make an appointment to drop your quilt off to Karen.
*If you are NOT local, you can drop your quilt through USPS
Please take a few moments to turn your quilt top over. Look at the back closely. Clip any dark threads. There is NOTHING more frustrating than getting a quilt finished, only to see a dark thread showing through from between the top and the batting. The 10 minutes that it takes to snip them off is well worth it.
Take just a wee bit of time and be sure your top is pressed. It doesn't have to be perfect. I can make adjustments while it is on my machine for fold lines, etc. I CAN'T do a darned thing about a quilt that looks like it came out of the laundry hamper, though. If you are providing your own backing, please take a look at that also. I can work out fold lines with a combination of pressure, water-mist, and a little heat. If your backing has deep creases and wrinkles in it, it just may still have those after I am done quilting it!
If your edges are pieced, do us BOTH a favor and run a stay-stitch around the perimeter of your quilt. That simply keeps your piecing from coming apart at the edges when I apply a little pressure.
I don't care if your top isn't perfect. If you are proud of it, I'm proud of you FOR it! MANY of my quilts are NOT perfect. That is how I learned to be a good longarmer...quilting my own stuff! I have gotten tons of experience with "naughty" quilts. Just talk to me about it. If your seams aren't lying flat...let me know. If you have waves in the borders, let me know. If you just tossed something together for a last-minute gift...let me know! I can work with almost anything, as long as we talk about it and manage both of our expectations!
It's funny how quilts are size and shapeshifters! Please measure your top (along the top, middle, and bottom...just like you would to add a border). Just because your pattern TELLS you it will be a certain size, doesn't mean it actually comes out that way.
Check your quilt for "square". If it isn't square, and you can't make it square without losing all of your hard work...it's ok. Just TELL me so that I can adjust for that. I can often pull your quilt closer to square when I roll it on my frame.
MARK which side of your quilt is the top, if you intend your quilt to be directional!
Do all of those things for your backing! PLEASE, if at all possible, if you have to piece your backing, make the seams go horizonally! I can accommodate for vertical seams if I HAVE to, but I surely prefer not to!
Your backing MUST be 6 inches wider/longer than your top. If you KNOW you have a "wonky" top...just give me a bit more than that!
Print off your intake form and fill it out as completely as possible. The most important part is the contact information. I NEVER want a quilt to arrive on my doorstep and not know who it belongs to!
Be sure that you enclose ALL of your fabrics in a plastic bag prior to shipping! It would be dreadful if the courier left your precious quilt in a rainstorm! Make sure it is protected.
Once your quilt arrives at my home, I will place all of your goodies in a plastic tote, labeled with your name. I will contact you to let you know it has arrived safely.

Computerized designs come to life when paired with a lovely quilt top!
We can take what your mom or grandmom started years ago, and turn it into a work of art to be handed down through the generations.
Chat with us about your unfinished projects!
Quilting simply enhances the amazing quilt top that YOU created!
Don't worry! We won't have the little people quilting YOUR quilts (just yet...unless you want them to!) Kain Elliot is 6 years old in this video, and adores sewing on the Singer Heavy Duty...and longarming his own creations!
This was a border that I PURPOSEFULLY created with about 2 inches of fullness, just so I could learn to deal with wavy borders.
Ahhhhh.....another beautiful quilt!
Who doesn't love fresh spring bouquets on their bed?
Some of us do our best work late at night...with a glass of wine, furry beasts, and piles and piles of fabrics everywhere!
